Tranquil blue crystal waters of the upper McKenzie River contrast with the raging white waters from multiple spectacular waterfalls. Sahalie and Koosah falls roar around rich green mosses and at the bottom you’ll reach the enchanting Blue Pool beneath Tamolich falls (Tamolich falls are gone in low water) which is highly popular.

Sahalie Falls as it spills into a blue pool churned with whitewater below.

Three streams of water form the low water Koosah falls, which is one large flow in higher water. Amazing how much water there is even in September.

Looking down into the blue abyss that is Blue Pool. The logs seen at the bottom are just that, and not to be confused with sticks by the perspective in the 30 ft or so deep water.

I’ll probably be doing a little bit of jumping around as I switch between 2023 and 2024 (and probably some older ones as well) as I think I’m going to go through all of the fall/winter photos before looping around to spring/summer hikes after that as its more seasonally relevant for now. It’ll still be kind of grouped together though so its not just back and forth everyday.
